Pet-Friendly Port Townsend

I am so lucky to work with couples in love all day and it is so sweet to see the deep love that couples have for their canine companions.

A frequent question I receive is: “Is your studio dog-friendly?” With These Rings happily welcomes dogs. But do keep in mind it is a working studio with mild chemicals, possible metal shavings, and loud noises - not all dogs enjoy the studio environment.

Port Townsend is a dog-friendly city. You’ll often find a bowl full of water outside of shops and restaurants and a friendly faces offering your four-legged friend a treat. These are some of my favorite hotels, activities, and destinations for you, your partner, and your dog to enjoy during your time in Port Townsend.

Lodging

One of the best places to stay with your dog is Fort Worden.

Fort Worden is Pacific Northwest paradise for canines and humans alike. Hike to the beach or the forest on the Fort’s 12 miles of maintained hiking trails, explore abandoned military bunkers, and slumber in historic, Victorian homes. Click here to view the Fort’s pet policy.

Other pet-friendly hotels include the Swan Hotel, Big Red Barn, The Palace Hotel, and the Bishop Victorian.

Dining

Stop by the Pourhouse for a casual dining experience with man’s best friend. The Pourhouse provides a take-out menu where you can order from a variety of different restaurants in town!

In addition, they offer 12 beers and two ciders on tap, over 200 bottles and cans, an extensive wine list, outdoor beer garden with amazing views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains where you can listen to live music or play ping pong or bocce ball.

During the warmer months, many restaurants in Port Townsend offer outdoor dining options that allow dogs including The Old Whiskey Mill, Quench, and Pippas Real Teas.

Wine Tasting

Port Townsend Vineyards not only has two locations in Port Townsend but welcomes your dog as well! Enjoy a glass of their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, or white and red blends as you relax with your pooch.

If you crossed the Hood Canal Bridge, driving into town you might have noticed a beautiful barn. That is the Winery location with a gorgeous tasting room featuring an incredible handmade bar built out of salvaged wood and new production facility. The downtown tasting room (just below the With These Rings studio!) opens at noon daily and both locations have small menus featuring local cheese platters and chocolates.

Port Townsend Vineyards offers the unique experience of making your own wine. Create an exclusive wine or private label in collaboration with their experienced winemaker!

Parks

All Port Townsend City Parks allow dogs, but Chetzemoka Park is my favorite.

This waterfront park is the perfect place for a picnic, a walk on the beach, enjoying Shakespeare in the Park, and weddings! Many couples choose to say “I do” at  Chetzemoka Park in the Victorian gazebo surrounded by flower gardens and views of the Cascade Mountains and Admiralty Inlet.

About a block and a half from Chetzemoka Park is an informal, off-leash dog park for your pet to romp around and enjoy PT just as much as you are!
